Every learner uses different tools to build their house.
We live in a world where information is available in a variety of formats, and from a variety of places. The sheer amount of information available is unprecidented and growing exponentially every second of every minute of every day. We have access to real and “fake” information at every turn and now must not only sift through the realms of data but determine its trustworthiness as well. It is both an exhilerating and exhausting time to be a learner.
Historically the role of an instructor was to stand at the front of the room and “teach” the learner a block of information. This served us well for generations and continues to do so in a number of areas today. The challenge has now become how to “teach” an ever growing and evolving block of information. What to teach? To Whom? And Why?
It is this question that has driven the evolution of teaching and learning in the past, and it is this question that will continue to drive it forward. Furthering the use of Technology in the Innovation of Education is but one way we will move forward.
